Title: Creative Director, Marketing Location: Westlake Village, California Reports to: VP, Marketing and Communications   The Role:  The J.D. Power Creative Director will lead the company's brand and visual identity as part of the overall responsibilities of the Marketing department. The Creative Director will direct and lead a team of creative professionals whose mission is to be the purveyor and protector of the company's brand. The ideal candidate for this role should possess a unique blend of creative vision and business sense--with the ability to understand how strong visual communications aid in content consumption and client interactions. The Creative Director is responsible for developing creative guidelines and directing creative work, inclusive of digital/print collateral, websites, email campaigns, events, presentations, videos and advertising. This position reports to the Head of Marketing & Communications.   The Creative Director position is a dynamic job in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate for this position must be detailed and organized with the ability to manage and progress several creative projects simultaneously. At one point, you may be writing copy for the launch of a new website. At the next, you can be coming up with concepts for the next advertising campaign. The work envisioned and executed by the Creative Director and their team will help to communicate the brand attributes, company values, and company's strategy and will serve as the "face" of our company. This role will support all aspects of the J.D. Power business and is a critical function within the organization.   Responsibilities: Oversees the company visual identity, language and brand representation working with the Head of Marketing and Communications. Develops strong brand campaigns inclusive of creative, copy and execution plans. Assists in the development of marketing strategies by examining client objectives; planning, scheduling, and completing design and production requirements for omni-channel marketing. Supervises a cross-functional team (5-6 people) of graphic designers, copy editors and photographers / videographers, in the strategic development of messages and deliverables Builds, leads, and reviews work of the creative team in the production of all web, print, and digital marketing collateral Spearheads and manages creative strategy for both small-scale and large-scale projects, harnessing strategy, digital and brand design, compelling content, and technology Collaborates with the marketing and sales departments in developing marketing plans, analyzing results, and identifying opportunities Develops internal marketing campaigns that translate marketing objectives across business units into clear and motivating creative strategies Meets budget standards by forecasting and managing expenses Improves marketing quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing creative processes; implementing changes. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and in professional organizations. Anticipates and tracks trends to stay on top of fresh approaches to marketing and advertising Recruits, hires, trains and coaches' employees in Creative Services division. Develops presentation approaches by reviewing materials and information presented by client. Determines project content by reviewing and approving art and copy materials developed by staff. Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Prioritizes work and resources across engagements based on short- and long-term needs, establishing production schedules by collaborating with designers, copywriters, and production departments Conducts brainstorming sessions with creative team, maintaining strategic and creative thinking to develop innovative and actionable creative initiatives in a fiscally responsible manner Produces fresh, innovative work that translates complex ideas into compelling print materials and digitalexperiences for visually sophisticated audiences Present, or oversee presentation of final concepts, and obtain approvals for deliverables. Obtains client approval by presenting final layouts to client. Qualifications: Creativity: The ability to invent new ideas for branding, advertising campaigns and marketing messages. The ideal candidate needs to understand design and smart copy and recognize fresh approaches to advertising. Analytical Skills: The ability to analyze trends, look at new data and keep current with the latest creative tools and techniques (and understanding what works well when). Decision-Making Skills: The ability to make decisions on copy, art, collateral and other marketing assets so they are ready to be public-facing and in support of the brand. Interpersonal Skills: The ability to collaborate well with various groups and individuals on a regular basis Management Skills: The ability to keep the team and projects on schedule and on budget without sacrificing quality. Creative Vision: An intimate understanding of design, copy and web best practices/guidelines. Technologically-savvy: Experience with a variety of software, including Photoshop, InDesign, Flash, etc. Presentation Skills: VERY strong PowerPoint skills are needed. Excellent leadership and communication skills Brand and Marketing: A strong understanding of brand development and multi-channel marketing concepts Communication: Strong persuasive and collaborative skills Proven Expertise: At least 10 years of a creative background such as graphics designer, copy-writing or working as an art director. Agency experience is a plus.
